Food Distribution

Flourishing Communities is building on the over 40-year history of the J. C. Hairston Food Bank, a ministry of Sixth Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, by not only offering fresh produce in its monthly distributions, but also preventing food waste by educating many recipients on how these foods can be prepared and their nutritional value. Flourishing Communities, in partnership with Wilkinsburg Community Ministries, offers free produce through a mobile market twice a month, thereby ensuring food access throughout the majority of any given month.
